Hmmm…
I am beginning to suspect that the writer I was speaking with regarding a comic book project has disappeared on me.
Which is fine and all, no commitment either way. Just means I’ll have to come up with something else. God know work is cooking my brain lately anyway, so it’s not like I’m getting much art done.
In other news, there’s this whole Marvel Comics/Gary Freidrich/Copyright law thing that has made at least one creator (Sean Gordon Murphy) change his convention sketch policy to exclude any and all copyrighted characters. It’s a bit of an extreme stance, by Murphy’s own admission, but technically he’s not wrong. All the MORE reason to self-publish. Considering we have this little internet thing, it’s easier than ever to get your own work in the hands (HDDs) of readers.
Who the hell needs Disney and the WB funneling hard copy comics, anyway?
Suffice it to say I’m working on creator-owned stuff lately for several reasons, not the least of which is the fact that you just never know which way the corporate winds will bow.
You know, for the all of 4 people who follow me and might care what I do one way or the other. :-P
